29th Annual ATD Charity Golf Classic Raises $180,000 For Local Charities

On Monday at Peninsula Golf Club in Cornelius, North Carolina, ATD associates and its vendor partners joined together in friendly competition to support the company’s long-standing commitment to supporting organizations committed to improving the lives of people in the communities in which we live and work.

The 130 players on 11 different teams represented one of the largest groups to ever participate.

At the end of the day and thanks to the tremendous generosity of our vendor partners, more than $180,000 was raised for three great Charlotte-area charities:

• The Independence Fund empowers severely wounded veterans and their caregivers to take control of their lives. They provide the resources and tools that enable veterans to regain their independence. They have mobility, caregiver and advocacy programs and support adaptive sports participation, too. ATD donated $100,000 to The Independence Fund.
• Friendship Trays has delivered nutritious meals to the elderly and infirm in the Charlotte metropolitan area for more than 40 years. Every day, Friendship Trays cooks and delivers to more than 700 people who are unable to obtain or prepare their own meals. They also offer an unseen but equally important benefit: human connections. The volunteers with Friendship Trays may be the only regular people in regular contact with the individuals served. ATD donated $40,000 to Friendship Trays.
• Promising Pages offers more than 100,000 free books to underserved children every year to cultivate a lifelong love of reading. Promising Pages is Charlotte’s largest and most efficient distributor of upcycled books aimed at addressing the critical – and solvable – community need for books. ATD donated $40,000 to Promising Pages.
